Our Story.
Lifelong Northeast Florida angler, retired law enforcement officer, U.S. Army National Guard Colonel — and the kind of fishing guide who promises a great day on the water.
Retired Law Enforcement Officer. U.S. Army National Guard Colonel. Lifelong bass fisherman.
Captain Oliver Custead is a lifelong resident of Putnam County, Florida, with deep roots in the local community and a lifelong passion for bass fishing.
He proudly served 32 years in law enforcement and completed 32 years in the Florida National Guard, retiring with the rank of Colonel.
A career built around the river.
With decades of experience fishing throughout Florida and the southeastern United States, Captain Custead has a deep knowledge of the region's waterways. His passion for the sport inspired him to start a bass fishing club at a local Christian school, where he continues to mentor young fishermen and share his enthusiasm for the outdoors.
Oliver currently guides for the Class I railroad lodges, Norfolk Southern and CSX, and brings the same level of professionalism, patience, and hospitality to every trip he runs — whether it's a first-timer's first bass or a seasoned tournament angler exploring new water.
Whether guiding first-timers or experienced anglers, Captain Custead is committed to providing a relaxed, enjoyable experience on the water. While he doesn't promise a trophy bass, he does promise a great day of fishing — and he promises he won't yell at you.
